Description
Excel’s Enbeam OM4 tight buffered cable is designed for internal distribution, the runs between comms rooms, risers, and equipment racks where flexibility and easy termination matter more than external protection.
Each of the 16 fibres is individually buffered to 900 μm and colour-coded, wrapped in aramid yarn around a central FRP strength member. That construction is what makes tight buffered cable easier to strip, terminate, and manage in a patch panel than loose tube, at the cost of being an internal-only cable rather than one rated for external runs.
OM4 performance here gives you the bandwidth headroom for 40G and 100G links, with full backward compatibility to OM3, so this cable works as a drop-in upgrade on existing OM3 infrastructure without changing connector types.
The LSZH sheath carries a B2ca fire rating under EN 13501-6 (s1a smoke, d1 droplets, a1 acidity), suitable for internal cable routes in commercial buildings under current fire safety requirements.
