Horizontal rack mount PDUs provide organised power distribution for server cabinets and network racks. These units mount directly into standard 19-inch racks, delivering multiple UK power outlets in a compact 1U form factor. You need this solution when managing multiple devices in a single rack without cluttering your cabinet with extension leads.
IT managers, network administrators, and data centre operators rely on these units to power switches, routers, servers, and other rack-mounted equipment from a single connection point. When selecting a horizontal rack-mount PDU, the socket count determines the number of devices that can be powered simultaneously. The range includes 3-way units for smaller 10-inch racks, as well as 8-way models for full-size cabinets. Each unit features a 3-metre power lead, giving you flexibility in positioning relative to wall outlets. The 1U height occupies minimal rack space whilst providing front-facing access to all sockets.
All models utilise standard UK 13-amp sockets, accepting BS1363 plugs without the need for adapters. Metal construction provides structural integrity for rack mounting, with fixing holes compatible with standard cage nuts or mounting screws. Your rack must accept standard 1U equipment for proper installation. The 3-metre lead length limits placement to within that distance of mains power. Calculate the combined power consumption of all devices before connecting them to prevent circuit overload. Consider the total amperage draw across all connected equipment to avoid overloading the circuit. Most UK PDUs operate on 13-amp circuits, which limit the total connected load to approximately 3,000 watts.
These PDUs work with both server cabinets and network racks, utilising 19-inch mounting standards, while the 10-inch models are suited for small office and home office installations.
